Stretching Out a Silkworm Cocoon.

This is a demonstration how they make silk bed comforters. Each silkworm cocoon is treated so it can be flattened out to the the size of a washcloth. Then they further stretch each cocoon to make a layer of silk inside the stuffing the bed comforter. It takes several hundred cocoon layers to make one comforter! It's amazing how far a silkworm cocoon can stretch! Fascinating.

The covering of the bed comforter is also silk brocade. So the entire comforter is literally made of 100% silk!
